This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

meanmarie Happy Birthday for yesterday
Sorry it's late
:bdaycake:
I'm just a little bit more red than yesterday, I stayed in the shade as much as possible, used sun cream and wore long sleeves but the sun still got me
I was wearing a long white floaty top, which usually looks fine. But it's a wide one which comes with a belt that you tie loosely so it's a bit baggy but has some shape to it. I left the belt at home and I'm pretty sure people were trying to work out if I was pregnant or not

The boat trip was fab, an hour and a half round trip and we stopped in Polperro for just over an hour. It was a glass bottom boat, the water was really clear so it was great to see a few fish – and lots of seaweed

Mr tru wants to stay another night but I can't cope with another hot sunny day, so we're leaving today. Glad we're coming home, my body is in need of attention. I need a foot file, a loofah, some body butter and some decent hair conditioner

tru - sounds like a fab holiday. hope you can give your body a little tlc.
Meanmarie - Hope you had a happy birthday yesterday.
TTFTM - Roll on the holidays indeed - we finish tomorrow for 6 weeks!
JackieO - Enjoy your new car.
I was doing well getting things done from my list yesterday, stopped at Asd@ to get some gifts of the bottle variety and when I came out there were 2 ladies stood by my car. One of them had driven straight into it whilst trying to park! I know it's a lot of hassle going through insurance, etc, especially as I am going away for a month but I am very grateful that she stopped to let me know what happened and didn't drive away.
Anyway, had my eyebrows waxed, bought more sand for the drive and finished sweeping that in just before it rained. Cooked spag bol (but I had rice) for tea and then got a few bits of paperwork sorted out. Still can't get the currency card to work so must phone them today.
Salad for lunch with the leftovers from yesterday's staff lunch, not sure what to do for tea yet.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, sun is shining, but its much fresher. Washing on the line. Will get another load in WM and on so it’s ready to go out when I get back at lunchtime.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta, ice cream for dessert for those that had room. Tonight will be full English – but I haven’t got any mushrooms or black pudding – so will need to buy some, I’ll get that on my way home from work.
Only working today until lunchtime – so will get home and get going with the jobs – I have to go to a training session tomorrow morning – on my days’ off, as they’ve changed the training days and it will be on my days off now – I’m really not happy – there’s others in the same situation and they won’t even consider running a training session on a day when we’re all in work! At least it’s only once every 6 weeks or so and I’ve made it clear I’ll go on a session convenient for me – I won’t be dictated to when I need to go! I am grateful though that I still have a job – I know loads of people haven’t.
Have a good day everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone, forecast to be cooler today which is a relief and I hope the nightime temperatures are cooler too as it's hard to sleep when it's this hot.
Going into town today for a few bits and pieces, we decided last night to buy in a fruit cage for the back garden, we've lost all the loganberries this year from the two young bushes and had to heavily net the currants and raspberries as the birds are taking anything they can get to this year. Really odd as the fruit on the allotment which is less than 100 yards away isn't being touched on any of the plots. We're into the harvest with broad beans and new potatoes now as well as the produce in the polytunnel so the food costs are a little less than in the winter and the food is nicer.
Have a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -

Well, the temperature has definitely cooled here. I don't know if I'm happy about that, or not as we hardly ever get any decent sunshine. OH is happy though as can't stand it when it is too hot.
OH managed to burn a fair bit of the broken fence panels last night. There's one more pile which will hopefully go tonight and then we can make a start on the pruned rose bush and loganberry branches. At least the garden is starting to look a bit tidier
I don't have a lot of energy to be able to get much done today but I do need to go through the paperwork on the large bookcase as OH needs an important document and we can't find it. I'm sure it was put there though so will have a search.
Dinner tonight will have to be something from the freezer although I'm not sure what. Possibly fish fingers for the younger ones and bolognese for us.2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000
