yes just add a good squeeze of lemon juice and it will set fine,

someone asked earlier about jam for kids mine love anything with strawberry, peach is really popular and raspberry cook fruit slightly then push through sieve before adding sugar. to remove the seeds as mine hate the seeds. it still has the pulp so not clear like a jelly.
with peaches or apricots do you just whack it in the saucepan with some lemon juice & jam sugar & let it cook down? thanks :)

Ooo never done that... Do you keep them in a syrup type liquid?

yes i make a sugar syrup or for different flavours use fruit juices with a little extra sugar my boys love pears in cranberry juice they go a lovely pink and taste yummy.. you have to boil the jars in hot water to seal properly but they then keep for a good year..

I have caved in and bought a sun newspaper...but I think I will go tomorrow in the hope that it all gets restocked overnight...

We really cant use that much fruit and veg up quickly but I guess we can make the exception for some stawberries and cherries.

my lot are fussy so i remove the skin by scoring with a knife then leaving in hot water for a few mins, then remove stone and chop roughly it reduces the cooking time, cook gently
then add the lemon juice and sugar and cook until set.
