Evening all
Background: We used to be with BG (only when we moved in until we changed supplier). We now get out energy through a new supplier, and have done for about a month, and I have paid the outstanding fees owed to BG.
A an indian chap (purely saying this because giving all the facts I can) phoned our landline a few minutes ago saying he was from BG and ask for Mr ....... (myself). I said that was me, then he asked my to answer security questions, and Im thinking, why should I do that - you phoned me. After going back and forth he asked me to write down a number and phone him back. He would not tell me what it was regarding.
What does everybody think of this?
I mean if we owed money they would sent out a letter. I dont really know what he wanted, but was not prepared to give my details out to somebody who could be anybody.

You're not sure if you owe british Gas money?
https://www.britishgas.co.uk/Help_Advice/ContactUs/
Contact them online and ask them. They'll give you a genuine number to call.
He was probably cold calling trying to sell you Homecare or something equally as annoying."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I was meaning in theory if we owed them money they would write, as thats the norm, but I know I paid the bills that arrived in full.
Ps thanks for the link0 -

Put the number that the caller gave you into Google and see what comes up.0
