Loan for Holiday??????

Hi all,

Just a quick question, if I wanted to get a loan (Graduate) for say £15k for a holiday, do they allow loans for holidays or should I tell them it's for something like getting married?

If you're applying for a loan to go on holiday then say that on the application rather than making up some !!!! and bull story about a wedding.

How long is this £15k holiday going to last and can you afford the repayments?

Graduate loans are generally to cover living costs between graduating and starting a confirmed job.

You should choose the option that best describes what you want the loan for. It is possible to get a personal loan for a holiday, although generally not advised.

Lenders do generally take in to account what the loan purpose is when making a loan decision and deciding on the suitability of the product for the purpose.

Dont lie on the application.

A holiday for 15£k where you going ?

Don't need that much for a holiday, holidays can be found for a hundredth ( or just over ) of what you asking for, depends where you go though.

I think £15k sounds a little OTT, too.

Our holiday is probably going to cost us £2500 this summer (family of 4 for 6 weeks) and around 40% of that is flights.

I'm not known to skimp, either.

If you really are a new graduate, I'd check if you really need to be spending £15k on a holiday (that budget would cover my car, wedding and 2 holidays).

How are you planning on repaying it? Bear in mind that without interest it'd be costing you ~£600/month to repay over 2 years, ~£300/month over 4 and so on. So how long are you wanting to spend paying off a holiday?

Then there's affordability; unless you've started a high paying job, you're likely to be declined anyway.

However, on the topic; be honest about what it's about, you can't get into any trouble that way.
