leave halfords kwick fit alone, you only have to read the abundance of complaints on here to realize their just money pit places that wish to bleed you dry of your cash even if the parts are not a failure or defective.
thanks for the tip! will look into the council run MOT stationsDon't sweat the small stuff0 -
As above - avoid Kwik Fit and Halfords like the plague. Council testing stations are a good idea. Best of all is if you're lucky to have a trusted local independant garage nearby. The archetypal family-run business that's been going for years, used by all the locals, depends on repeat business and word-of-mouth to survive. They do exist, and will usually either do or arrange the MOT for you, and do any repairs for a fair price. As always, ask your friends and neighbours for recommendations.0

All the items you list that need doing are consumables, these need doing on any car.
If your intention with selling is not to replace it with another car then by all means sell it (but worth getting an MOT first).
If you're thinking to sell it and buy another second hand car in its place then don't. Keep the car and get it sorted. These are not expensive fixes, and you're could do much worse with a used car whose history you don't know.
Road tax should only be £110 a year, and not a month.
Will you use the car every weekend? If it's just for the occasional excursion then I would add up the total yearly cost of insurance, tax, mot, likely servicing cost, and add another £500 for unforeseen costs. Check if this is more than the cost of hiring a car for several weekends a year.0 -

re the road tax that was a typo, i meant £110 every 6 months. i will use it every weekend and now that the weather's nice i've been going out til late and its better to drive home than get the bus! also if it rains a car is much better than standing in the rain waiting for a bus as well. i seldom take taxis as i think they are overpriced!
i wasnt intending on replacing it with another car, i was either going to sell it and pocket the money or fix it and use it on weekends.Don't sweat the small stuff0 -
Then it's a no brainer, I would definitely get it fixed and keep it.0
