we went to Marrakech a few years ago and i went out alone a few times, i didn't find the hassle too much, a bit of banter in the souk but nothing i couldn't handle (i am Scandinavian level blonde!) Dress sensibly and wear sunglasses and you will be fine.
We booked a trip through our Riad to the desert which was much cheaper than pre-booking but was very basic. One thing i wish i had was a star map as the skies were stunning, it is cold though! I really didn't want to get back on the camel the next day!
Bringing back a few pennies will be fine, i also have a tin of coins from the places i have been.
My friend went alone recently and loved it.

I went to Agadir last November and took a day trip up to Marrakech. It was certainly an experience and I'm pleased I went but I'm also glad that I wasn't staying there for the whole time. It's a busy place and if you don't enjoy constant attention and haggling in the main square or souks, it will get tedious pretty quickly. Saffron is by far the best value thing to bring back (assuming you get a good price ;)) and I would happily go back for that alone.

The best trip for me was up into the Atlas mountains - but I do have a soft spot for lovely scenery.

I think most of the previous comments have covered what advice I would have given you. Best of luck and have a wonderful time :)
