Quite possibly, I wasn't sure what car the OP had or whether that reference to a Galaxy was just a 'for instance'. May make a difference presumably whether it's petrol or diesel too.

Norman Castle makes a good point too - it's not always the mileage that dictates how often the belt should be changed, you also have to take into account the age of the belt and other components involved.

The Galaxy I mentioned was a 'for instance', a mechanic told me this when I was getting the cambelt on my Renault megane (which was one of my worst cars) done and I was complaining about the high cost of this (it was around £200 I think). He told me for Galaxy's they have to take the whole engine out to do it.
