Bathrooms - replacing sinks in furniture

Hi guys,
In our new house is a vanity unit housing a sink. The vanity unit is in quite good condition as is the sink itself. The taps and grouting however are skanky.
Can I just buy a new tap and get the plumber to reinstall the sink with fresh sealant and will it then look, if not as good as new, pretty good?! Would be a shame to waste the sink and vanity unit as we can't afford to replace like for like - it'd be a standard pedestal sink without.
