Was it put in the fridge as soon as it cooled? i.e you didn't leave it out for several hours first?.. It should take about 15 minutes for it to cool then should be put in the fridge then frozen later in the day if not needed.

3 days is probably pushing it..but I'd use it frying it and making sure it's very hot...but then again rice is pretty cheap so just make another batch and don't use so much next time. You really should aim never to have any left over. It only takes 10-15 minutes in the microwave to make fresh so if you had a curry and didn't make enough rice for the main course then make another batch and offer seconds for everyone.

Rice should be eaten within an hour of being cooked. It should not be eaten after that.
Rice is like a sponge, and is a bug fest.
Never eat rice that isn't freshly cooked.

Ive eaten rice over two days for at least 30 years (not every day)!!, and never had any problems. Chinese takeaways reheat rice, if it was that bad for you, there would be customers keeling over all over the place.!! I wouldn't heat it up after three days. Be a bit dry i would think.

The problem is most bacteria can be killed from cooking, the bacteria on rice cannot be killed so it needs to be quickly cooled to slow reproduction & eaten with a day or two. 3 days is a bit much & if it wasnt cooled quickly I would bin.

If it's rice you've cooked yourself, cool the excess quickly (e.g. spread on a baking tray) and freeze. I use microwavable plastic tubs - next time I need rice in a hurry, I microwave for a few minutes until piping hot. Saves binning waste, and is great for the times I need a 5 minute dinner (I freeze bolognese, etc. in similar tubs, so it's a case of grabbing a rice and a meat and heating them up together)
