Stupid question but I bought a new outside broom today and can't get the sodding handle to stay on!

Is it screwed correctly into the brush? There should be grooves inside the hole on brush and the bottom of the handle which means it needs to be screwed in rather than shoved lol.0

Wrap the end in paper or cling flim till it fits without coming off.0
-
put a screw it in at an angle.0

I normally end up driving a nail into the broom to secure the handle in. Have had to do it on every broom I've ever bought.0
