I shouldn't worry about what goes on in Facebook comping groups, I'm not a member of any of them simply because this is the sort of thing they go in for, in fact I don't comp much on facebook either - too many issues finding out if you've won, just carry on as you see fit.

There's no point trying to reason with idiots ;)

I'm curious as to how a company might conclude whether or not your 'share' is public or not. How would they know? They can't see my timeline can they? All they can do is look at the post that they wanted shared and see that I did actually share it. They have no way of knowing who I shared it with - I just set the audience for the share post to 'Only Me'.

And yes to what gholmes said - these silly little offshoot groups exist only for scurrilous gossiping and witch-hunting - often with devastating effects when they get it wrong or only half right. I'd have nothing to do with them and defriend anyone who is active within one.

If your share is public then companies can view it on your timeline without adding you and so can strangers as it's visible to everyone. if you share only with yourself and they check your profile and see nothing they are entitled to pick another winner. But I am not sure that they actually do check all the time. As for separate accounts a lot of terms and conditions are being updated to say that twitter accounts whose feed is more than 50% comps will not be included in the draw. which I find more frustrating as even If I regularly tweet, then with the sheer volume of comps on twitter I struggle to maintain a 50/50 feed.
Starting afresh - comping as much as poss!

Hoping for: some beauty goods, clothes, amazon vouchers, anime, manga, wardrobe, fridge freezer, laptop, an ipad, vouchers for next, exercise goods, a uk break and a wee hol somewhere nice!
    Wishing all a little luck:beer:

Oh well - I enter very few FB comps anyway so I'll risk it. I really object to being pressured to share shizz that will doubtless irritate friends etc - apart from which I don't see it as anyone's business what I'm doing when I should be doing more important things! :D

I tag the page in my share so that they can see it ;) If it won't allow me to, I don't bother sharing as it's pointless with the limited audience.

FB T&Cs say only 1 account per user, so to say that you can is a bit like saying you can drive too fast as long as you don't get caught ;)
If you haven't been discovered yet, count yourself lucky and don't have anything you'd be happy to lose only on your Facebook.

ETA, If only companies would follow FB's own rules as posted above by Daza, then this discussion would be unnecessary!

A witch hunt. That is exactly how it felt. I joined a comping friends group and they welcomed me with open arms, but soon turned on me that is for sure. They probably get a lot of pleasure from making the newbies squirm. All compers now gone from my FB, which is very sad as I am sure 99% of them are lovely and genuine.
