Credit File

Options
Afternoon
I am currently in the process of sorting out the other half's financial issues and we have come onto his credit report.

Whilst they have debt, he has never missed a payment and regularly overpays and we have been tacking it together

The credit report on the other hand is turning into a nightmare!

There is an identical person with an identical name born on the same day living a hundred or so miles away. This person takes out PDL after cash advance after loan and never pays back a single penny. Now as you can probably tell, the other halfs credit report is showing all these defaults as they have just gone by name and DOB and put default after default on the acccount.

We went through it all and raised loads of disputes due to the addresses being wrong and not any connection to him.

Most have come back and advised they are rejecting the dispute. My question to all you lovely people is what is the next course of action to take to get these removed from his account as it will affect credit applications when it comes to a mortgage application further down the line as they will have seeing all these defaults.

Thanks in advance
R

Do the entries on the credit file show the address as your OHs actual address? or as the other address he has never lived at?

Assuming all are listed at the other address I would contact the credit reference agency and dispute the linked address that shows on file and therefore all the account entries originating from that address.

If he hasn't yet checked all 3 credit reference agency reports I would get him to do that as well.

Thanks. The addresses are also in dispute at the moment and these are also being disputed so its a hard one to work out what to do. He has always lived in the same address with his parents so his address is easy to verify.

I guess having exactly the same name as someone and the same date of birth must be so miniscule I guess they are working on the basis this is a chancer trying it on to get more credit.

I was going to do the one credit reference agency at a time as I don't think I have the patience to deal with them all in tandem and I am also hoping that if we get somewhere with one, then others will be easier to work with.

You need to dispute the address that links to his actual address, no doubt some useless debt company has created it, you need to dispute that with them as that is linking the files, they aren't removing the data as it's correct for the other person. Check his file with all 3 CRA's.
  • I am drafting emails to companies tonight to get them to sort the issues and get the records removed. I am also pressing the credit company to sort as they are aware of the issue as It was explained to them at the time re the number of disputes and if nothing happens official complaints will need to be raised to get sorted.
