I looked into them a while ago. Saw an advert on TV, thought I'd have a little look. It sounds great, but when you read the small print about things they will and won't cover, and the maximum they'll pay out for each individual item ( so much for a clutch, so much for injectors, etc. etc. ) it starts to lose its appeal.

You're better off just putting money aside each month - say the amount you would have spend on their monthly premiums - into a separate account. If you need to get a repair done, you'll likely have the money saved. If after a few years you've had no major repair bills, well then you've got yourself a nice little nest egg to treat yourself with.

Read some of my old posts on this.

The bottom line is, for me they seem to be one of the best from a very nasty bunch indeed. You are more likely to get a claim accepted than others, but there are caveats and tons of disclaimers and t&c.

Give the cash you spend on the warranty to charity instead.

I had a warranty with them a few years ago. The dealer included it with a used Ford I bought. It started mis-firing and took a while to start, phoned them and gave me the name of an approved garage, took it there, they replaced a sensor and that was it. I was probably lucky though.

The problems seem to be they dont cover an awful lot, I certainly wouldnt buy one. I read on here people moan they tried to claim for ridiculous stuff. There is another recent post here where the person wanted to claim on warranty for a leather seat repair!! You need to read and understand what you are buying for a start, not shout "mis-sale" when it wont pay out for worn brake pads.
