Masonry paint

Hi, After painting new render twice in 4 years with Sandtex exterior paint i'm looking for an alternative that will handle the weather better. Im pretty certain its the weather causing it as it is only on one gable end that we have the recurring problem, the end that gets the weather (west facing)
Santex are recommending their extreme exposure paint, but there is also the option of pliolite based paints.
Any views on what exterior paint is best on render in a harsh environment (exposed property on a hillside) ?

Firstly forget Santex, thats a DIY product.
Water based breathable acrylic. There is a company called Decor-8 in Bury Lancs that can supply iso nordic or similar. Can be rolled, brushed or if you are keen, hire an airless sprayer and do it properly.
This is the stuff that the expensive wall coating companies offer. Last time I priced it up it was about £100 for 15 ltrs, which sounds expensive, but read you ad, its what you need.0 -

Not totally true We used a sandtex resin based system, extremely expensive as the post earlier and also extremely messy, in effect you are painting on a chemical resistant paint almost like fibre glass resin.
5 years on and it's as new but at that price only 25 years will tell if it was worth while.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
We never went wrong with Crown Stronghold.
Make sure you use the stabilising solution first though.

Actually i think what i'll do is put layer of stabilising solution on it, then a primer layer of SBR then paint with Sandtex Trade Paint.0

The key with all painting is the preparation. Too many people just slop a layer of paint without doing the necessary scraping rubbing down etc.
Whilst it will probably take longer to prepare than to actually paint the thing. It is very much worth it.0
