Pre pay key meter (Elec) question

Dear all,
I recently moved into a property that had both gas and electricity on the key type meter and I have never had these before. On the understanding that they are slightly more expensive I discussed replacement with my former supplier, British Gas, who confirmed they would be happy to change things over to credit meters and a dual fuel account the same as my previous property.
Well I think you can guess what is next!
The gas meter was changed with no fuss at all and is now a credit meter. I have however "failed" a credit check so the electric meter will not be changed. I can not now benefit from dual fuel discounts or collect Nectar points for meter readings.
I just don't understand why one meter can be changed but not both? I am guessing it a money grabbing exercise?
Anybody had a successful transition or any advice to get this sorted?
Thanks
John

Won't they change the meter if you pay an upfront deposit? Alternatively swap to someone else who will.
Ask BG why you've failed their credit check so that you can do something about it.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Yes I have asked that and await response. Cant see why they would change one and not the other though?0
