BOS and Lloyds Question

Hi,
I have really poor credit but some how managed to open a Bank of Scotland Classic account.
Not sure how as I have been denied by every other bank in the UK even for basic accounts.
Anyway, I mainly travel to England and wanted to check if i can make deposits and withdrawals in Lloyds Bank?
I understand that these 2 banks are the same and I shouldn't have any problems treating it as a BOS bank?
I don't think Halifax and TSB allow this.
If someone could help me, that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

TSB should be looked upon as a completely separate bank.
I believe that Bank of Scotland customers can use halifax branches in England. Halifax is just a trading name of Bank of Scotland.
Lloyds customers in England can use Bank of Scotland up North as they don't have halifax branded branches in Scotland ( or maybe just a couple).
It's all very complicated!0 -

Lloyds and Bank of Scotland are not the same. They are two different companies but they use a lot of the same customer systems.

Hi ollylucas.
It's not possible to make deposits or withdrawals from your account at our branches, sorry.
Bank of Scotland don't seem to be represented on the forums but they do have a social media presence on Facebook & Twitter. It might be best to contact them to confirm what the options would be for you whilst you're in England.
Hope this helps.

I know I can deposit into my Halifax account at Bank of Scotland branches with no issues, I suspect you'll be able to use Halifax branches to deposit into your Bank of Scotland account.0 -
BOS said in a leaflet previously that (BOS) customers could use Lloyds branches free of charge for deposits if they have a pre-printed credit (BGC) slip.
Has Lloyds withdrawn from the Bank Giro Credit scheme?Lloyds_Bank wrote: »It's not possible to make deposits or withdrawals from your account at our branches, sorry. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Has Lloyds withdrawn from the Bank Giro Credit scheme?
Hi Heng Leng,
Bank Giro Credit slips can be used in our branches to make payments to companies, if the slip has been provided by them. For example, credit card companies often provide a BGC slip with their statements to be used to make a payment in our branches regardless if you bank with us or not.
However, this doesn't apply to deposits or withdrawals from a Bank of Scotland account as there would be no BGC slip.
I hope this helps.

They are at the back of all BOS chequebooks and you can request a book of them too.

Hi Heng Leng
Our position is that we wouldn't be able to accept a deposit into a Bank of Scotland account via one of our branches. If you require further info on this, or clarification on the use of the BGC slips you have, it may be best to speak directly with BoS themselves.
Though BoS don't have a presence on this forum, you may be able to get in touch with them via their Facebook and/or Twitter pages for further advice.
Thanks
