End of Fixed tariff - when to switch to avoid fees?
Comments
-
Recently switched away from EDF..Blue price promise tariff ended 30th April.
Actually started switch on 23rd March -completed on 29th April -so 37 days. To ensure that you don't get penalised I wouldn't start the switch until ~30 days before. Can't see shorter switching times becoming a reality in the near future -just too much inertia currently in the suppliers' systems.0 -
Hi Locky123
We've just added this as an FAQ on the Cheap Energy Club page.
My fix is ending, if I switch now will I be charged the early exit fee?
Energy suppliers are banned from charging exit fees when you have less than 49 days to go till the end of your tariff. These are rules set down by the energy regulator, Ofgem so suppliers do have to stick to them. So stay within these timeframes and you shouldn’t be charged.
Hope this helps.0
