Orphan kitten- lost her meow:/

Hi all,
Mum found a orphan kitten two weeks ago, she was so small and tiny after looking online we assumed she was 2 weeks old. We bottle fed her special kitten milk using a syringe and then a little bottle and she got the runs with bloody stool.
Took her to the vet and were told she was actually 4 week and very very underweight and might not make it, she was given a few injections and given some oral meds. Took her back last friday for her final injection, she has gained weight and was told to wean her on kitten meat and keep hydrating her however she did say she was keeping her fingers crossed for us and we still might lose the kitten.
I noticed that she stopped meowing after the visit on friday and put it down to the fact that she was feeling better however the past few days she opens her mouth to meow and nothing comes out, sometimes a croak but most of the times its nothing. It is clear that she is trying to meow but no sound is coming out.
She is very playful and always eating but this loss of voice is freaking me out.
I'm going to call the Vet tomorrow and take her in for a check up but just wanted to know if anyone else has ever gone though this?
I have read of fading kitten syndrome and really really do not want to lose our beautiful ball of fluff to this so trying my hardest to nurse her back to health.
I have no idea how to insert pictures of cookie, She is a calico cat.

Don't know anything about fading kitten syndrome but our cat also never meows. She opens her mouth and clearly is trying to gain our attention but no sound, she's 10 and has been like it for years and has been given a clean bill of health from all the vets she has seen.
When she is put into cat carrier she gets very vocal, still not a meow but certainly enough of a noise to make it known that she doesn't like it.
In addition, due to her main job being standing right behind us when we are in the kitchen we have, rarely thankfully, tripped over her or just caught her tail and trust me, she proves that she can make a noise then too.
Of course, ask your vet but hopefully, like our Holly, she's just a bit odd:rotfl:0 -
I've got no advice but I do hope she thrives now that she's been given a new life with your family, well done for taking her on.

One of our cat is mostly a silent meower. He'll stand there and open his mouth and no sound come out.
He vocally meows very rarely and when he does we're all very shocked.
I know how hard it can be with kittens who are unwell and have my fingers crossed that she has the chance to enjoy her new life.
We rescued a 7 month old kitten at the end of April. The girl who we got her off had found her on the streets 4 weeks earlier and it is highly likely she was born a stray. When we got her she had a eye infection which was treated with antibiotic drops and cleared up really well. The eye infection returned 5 weeks later and this time we were given antibiotic tablets and eye drops to try. Our vet has told us that if it comes back a third time we will have to start testing for the likes of feline leukemia and FelV. She's been off the anitbiotics for a week now and everytime she squints her right eye my heart stops but I'm trying to be positive as she's a fighter.
It sounds like your little girl is a fighter too and I hope everything goes well for you all. Please keep us updated with her progress.0 -
Bless you for finding her and taking her in. I hope she gets stronger every day. Keep us posted please.
One of my two has no meow either - seems like her brother got all the noisy genes, she never says a peep, but it hasn't stopped her being very loving and demonstrative in her own way. She just can't get a word in past her bro, especially at mealtimes.0 -
keeping fingers crossed here for this kitty baby....thanks for looking after her/him xx0

I'd ring the vet to be sure but she may just be a silent cat,
cats are funny creatures, my ed chirps and rumbles around the house but doesn't often meow. Molly meows at birds, for food, for strokes and hisses at ed. Ollie just kind of squarks for a meow you can barely hear it, he only ever meows if he's shut out of a room I'm in
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly

Thanks everyone.
Took her to the vets on tues and she was given a clean bill of health and her weight had improved to what it should be so we were happy.
She's been happy and playful until a few hours ago when she suddenly became lethargic. She's just been sick twice and won't pick her head up at all.
Called the vet and been given a emergency appt for 10pm
I've never had a cat before and she's had such a rough start to her life so have no idea what it can be. I'm really really praying that we don't lose her been in tears for the past hour.
She's been sick, wheezing and very lethargic, a clump of fur has come off her neck aswell- I've looked online and got very varied results. Any cat lovers around that can give me a idea.
