Hi,
I want to install an alarm before to open an home insurance.
I know there are quite cheap ones to buy, so what do you suggest me to install that is compliant with the standard home insurances?
Thanks for helping.

Unless you have been instructed to get one then it doesn't matter.
Do dummy quotes with and without any alarm to see what difference (if any) having one makes to the premium
If you see any difference then see whether a fully monitored one makes any significant difference before doing the installation.0 -
Usually doesnt affect pricesNobody has signatures anymore everyone has chip and pin!0

We have an alarm and it does reduce the price through a security discount. However, alarms have to be connected (which means ongoing cost). So, if you are doing it just to try and save money then dont as the the monthly cost of the alarm runs close to £30 (will vary on house size).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The impact tends to be small unless you've got major jewellery/art collections and then it tends to be more mandatory to have it than getting a discount for it.
Top end insurers will start dividing up alarms in more categories but your mass market simply look at audible/lights only or monitored. They dont go into the detail of the quality of the system, the number and methods of intruder detection etc
One word of caution, if you declare you have one the you may find an endorsement added such as you only have theft cover whilst the property is unoccupied when the alarm is on and so if you forget to set as you go out then you're not insured for theft.0 -
