TV fault after 4 years - covered by Section 75

I bought a TV for £500 four years ago and it came with a free 5 year guarantee.

Out of the blue it no longer turns on - the store I bought it from went out of business about 2 years ago.

I paid by credit card and wondered if I would be covered under Section 75.

Any help would be gratefuy received.

Who is the guarantee with? It may be easier invoking this than making a claim against your CC co.

To be covered by Section 75 the purchase needs to be made with credit directly linked to the transaction, and be for more than £100. So yes the purchase is covered by Section 75. That doesn't automatically mean you will get a remedy though.

Is the fault covered by the guarantee? If not, can you prove the fault is inherent?

What's the make and model, also is the free guarantee with the shop or from a 3rd party like the manafacture or domestic & general?

I believe that you can claim Section 75 against the credit card, as the 5 year warranty was part of the contract, and if the company is no longer able to supply the warranty then you can claim against the credit card provider.

Check if the warranty was manufacturer or insurer backed as that may well have out survived the vendor going out of business.

S75 would most likely apply against the warranty. Do you have a copy of the warranty so that the terms can be reviewed?
