Conservatory roof...Glass Vs Poly carb

Hi
We have a south facing garden and a lean to type conservatory of which the roof has come to the end of its life (currently polycarb).
We are now undecided what to replace this with... glass (namely pilkington active blue) or polycarb and rig up some sort of false ceiling with silver lined insulation to deflect heat in the summer and keep it in in the winter.
Obviously it is easy to be sucked in with companies telling us that their product will solve all our problems but I was hoping that posting on here, we'd be able to hear from people who have done one or the other and how they find it.
Also, as a rough guide, I wondered if people would mind sharing the cost of thier roof, our cons. is roughly 3m x 4m and just trying to gage the pennies.
Thanking you in advance for your comments

No idea of cost for a replacement roof, but we love our glass roof. We watch the birds, the clouds, planes etc.
It looks stylish, too.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
if you don't have a lockable door from your house to the conservatory then a poly roof will invalidate your insuranceI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

happy to be corrected, but isn't this the case for any conservatory - polyc or glass?0 -
Make sure your lean to has the required footings to cope with a glass roofNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

no a glass roof is no different to windows, poly can be cut very easily using a stanley knife so it's not considered secureI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

is no different?
I didn't know that about the house insurance side of things, but in terms of building regs I don't think they are any different.0 -
