Each night worker puts 10 quid into a pot, buy a £100 decentish microwave

some really good angles i hadnt thought of to be honest
lockable socket cover is another one, i will be putting to them.
The only issue with it is, i think days would get the hump and ultimately this may cause added friction, its always an us and them mentality when realisticly we are one team.
the canteen its self only has a fridge - hot water outlet and a drinks machine, so its not like it actually has propper food service, its just annoying more then anything else..0 -
I worked at one place where the canteen was a separate building with contracted staff.
Just as I was being made redundant, the plan was to lose the contractors.
This meant no one got a meal - AND, as we worked in a building given over entirely to laboratories, had nowhere to eat them either.
As I was leaving, that plan was going down like a lead balloon but management (who worked in offices and could access fridges, microwaves and the like) believed they were entirely justified. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

Well after nearly 4 years of working nights here and spending 2.5 of those as our nightshift team leader, i just find things getting more and more ridiculas. No consideration goes into anything, my own line+ his admitted they forget we exist, so i just feel as though we are unfairly represented and this unfortunatly has a nock on effect on moral! ( i appolgise for my bad spelling..)0 -
Just take a hot food flask if your desperate for something hot/warm.
I had this microwave problem where I used to work and in the end I never used it as it was disgusting.
I just brought in something that didnt need reheating.
If you have your tea before you set off you dont really need a hot meal through the night anyway.0 -

Because that's generally the deal. You give someone money, and they give you goods or services.0 -
I would be thinking of creative ways round this, depending on how much secure storage space I had. If you can't store a microwave safely you could buy yourself a slow cooker or soup maker and have delicious hot meals! (You might even think of either sharing the cost with others or selling them the results.....)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

I think one of the first rules of MSE is take a packed lunch to work, is it not?0 -
How do you get to work? You could always put one of these in the back of your boot every night
£45 Microwave

I'm lucky because I work nights and have got a fitted kitchen to use, if I was in the op's position however I would just buy my own cheaply microwave and use that but, and here's the but, surely you can't use your own equipment at work for insurance purposes and won't it need to be PAC tested before use?0
