Best contents insurance?

Hi there I am new here and need some advice.
I'm a young lad (24) and currently living in a rented property and looking for contents insurance (just contents) but there are so many choices and I don't know where to turn to and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to which provider provides the most reliable cover.
I am living with my partner and 2 children in a maisonette.
I need cover for up to say £30,000. And for an individual item up to £1500. I would also like one that will cover my mobile phone which is valued at £400 (was when it was purchased) preferably. I would be after full cover including accidental damage as I have 2 children (1 year old and a 3 year old)
something else I need to know is does legal cover, cover any issues I may have with my landlord or is it more suited to people who have purchased there houses.
Finally is there any companies out there that meet all them requirements? If so has anyone had any experience with them? I was thinking about joining llyods insurance just because I also bank with them and have done for about 4 years now.
Thankyou in advance, I hope someone can help. :money:

Phones are fairly risky to insure so probably worth being careful and not insuring it.
You may end up paying way more than the £400 you think its worth. Policy excess and increased premiums etc. How much is a refurbished one?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Firstly thanks for the reply.
And the phone refurbished is £280.
If you don't mind me asking can you explain why it is risky? I am completely new to this insurance front.0 -

Everything you mentioned is basic home insurance stuff so pretty much any insurer/ broker will do for you. If you look at Which? they have a list of recommended providers but naturally you should expect them not to be the cheapest for the majority of people.
Mobiles are generally covered as standard by policies without having to be specified etc other than generally have personal possessions cover (which extends cover to items you take outside of the house with you).
For specialist policies mobiles are risky because they are small, expensive and easily damaged/stolen. You will find in September when the iPhone6 comes out insurers will receive a spike in claims from people saying their old phone was stolen or dropped from the 5th storey balcony by accident etc so they get a cash injection just in time for an upgrade.
Home insurance its less of an issue with mobiles as the economics of it doesnt add up as well when you consider a £200 excess (deducted off any claim) plus a spike in premiums for the next 3-5 years.0 -
Thanks for reply insideinsurance.
I will go and look at which now and go ahead with one which has half descent reviews.
I not to bothered with phone insurance but would like one that does cover it if it is stolen or if I drop it at home and something happens to it.
I don't care about the latest and greatest so touch wood nothing happens to it for minute and will last me another couple years yet.0
