Are these a complete waste of time? I can't really afford the glass ones. The area I am thinking of putting it is sheltered and next to a fence so I cant see it being blown away.

A simple cold-frame is more useful than than a rickety greenhouse IMHO.0 -
I've had a gardman twin wall polycarb 8*6 for 5 years.
They are lightweight however if its bolted down (mine on flagstones) and over engineered then in a sheltered position they are fine. I wouldn't have one in an exposed position.
Here in south wales recently we had the worst winds we can remember yet it survived. I did lose one panel, another blew out but retrieved and replaced.0
