Sanding and painting outside timber

our house has an extension bit(first floor).The builders who put up external timbers( tudor style) used slightly rough timber and they are 2-3 mm thicker than existing ones.




we plan to get them sanded and painted.There are about 7 vertical ones about 6 feet long and 1 horizontal long one about 14 feet long.
How much do I expect to be paying for labour?
is there anything I should be doing or specifying to maintain the looks of such external timbers?

Hard to visualise without a picture but does roughened timber detract from the "Tudor" look?

Does it matter that they are slightly thicker than the other timbers? Did Tudor builders work to that degree of accuracy?

the timbers may just be rougher because the older ones have got more paint on and appear more smooth
, i wouldn't have thought it would take more than 2 days , but it depends how much sanding down is involved , you might even get it done in a day if you're lucky
