Inheritance trust

Options
Hi all,

Our three children and their two cousins recently inherited money in a trust from their deceased grandmother.

Is there any way of getting that money out of the trust and investing it in a property abroad?

Thanks in advance.

If the trust has been well written, then you probably won't simply be able to take money out until certain criteria are met, usually age-related. Until then the trustees have the obligation to invest sensibly on behalf of the beneficiaries, and it is highly unlikely (in my view, at least) that this would be best accomplished by investing in a foreign property, as this is fairly illiquid and subject to foreign currency risk, not to mention foreign taxes, laws and political risk.

That said, it's worth reviewing the trust deed to see what the specific rules for the money are.
