I'm not sure if this is in the right page but il try anyways. I bought a washing machine from a well known highstreet store nearly 3 years ago. Well last night the digital screen started to mess up & now the machine won't work at all. Iv phoned the retailer & arranged for someone to come out on Tuesday to look at it but they are going to charge me £119. Some one told me that I'm covered for 6 years by the SOG but I don't know how to to about it. Any advice would be very welcome

How much did it cost? What's the 'reasonable' life of a washing machine at that price? SoGA doesn't mean a 6 year warranty.0

It was £250 I think. Some one said that all electricals are covered for 6years & to check out the SOG to see where I stand0

Nothing is covered for 6 years under SOGA, the 6 year "window" is about "reasonable" expectation. It was £250 I think. Some one said that all electricals are covered for 6years & to check out the SOG to see where I stand
For example, it would be perfectly reasonable to any normal thinking person to expect (say) a £600 TV set to last 5 years, but it would be wholly unreasonable to expect a watch battery to last more than a year.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

Interesting article

'These days, a washing machine can easily be uneconomical to repair once out of guarantee – even as young as 18 months old'
I would not be spending £119 on a machine that only cost £250.
My last machine lasted over 20 years! They don't make them like they used to.0
