My husband has a Barclaycard, can I apply for one too?

I wonder if anyone can help with a question. My husband and I have a fair amount of credit card debt which we are slowly managing to pay off. We have 4 cards. One is 0% and we have a standing order set up to pay that off before we start having to pay interest. We have 2 that are low interest and one that is higher interest which is obviously our priority. This one is a Barclaycard in my husbands name with me as an additional cardholder. Am I able to also apply for a Barclaycard under my own name - I was looking at the 0% balance transfer over 33 months. I don't want to attempt an application if it will definitely be rejected. The other issue at the moment with us is that we have our house on the market and would be looking at a mortgage application hopefully in the near future so we don't want to jeapordiseour chances at a mortgage. Thanks.

I've got a Barclaycard and my wife has got one too. No problem.

If you get rejected then it won't be because he's got a Barclaycard. As long as you and him pay on time and have good credit history I don't think it will be any problem to get one.
  • Watch out! While it is normally possible to do a balance transfer between spouses, siblings, etc. (just don't volunteer that information, though :)) it is not possible to transfer between two cards from the same provider. So Barclaycard to Barclaycard is a no-no.

There shouldn't be any relation with your application to your husband's existing card.

I hadn't realised women were allowed credit cards. Probably best to get hubby's permission first. :D:D:D
