It could be because you have a wussy, not-really-hardy clone of the type often sold these days, which have nice colours but lousy long term, 'real garden' performance.
My bog-standard pink things are doing brilliantly in this hot weather and the white ones (seedlings from 'Lady Leitrim') similarly.
I don't think it's lack of nutrients, because these guys cope with dry and not terribly well cared-for soil.
It's not a bad idea to give osteos a prune, a rest and a feed after their first flowering. They will normally go on then till the frosts, or like last winter, till after Christmas!0 -

Thanks Dave. I am inclined to question the quality of the plants TBH. I had two Orange Osteos which I transferred to the back of my rockery last autumn and they continued to flower over the winter!0
