Our little man is 18 months and doesn't really come to any of us and certainly not for a hug (though I do manage one when I carry him downstairs) but when I open the door he always gives the most wonderful smile.

My little boy is 17 months, he cries if daddy leaves the house for work, I can run the bath but it's daddy who gets to bath him, I get no no no daddy! I am sure when he is older it will be different :-) in the same respect I can get him to sleep pretty easily hubby can't!0

Sounds like he's going through a stage where he likes men. All kids do it. Sometimes it's the guys, sometimes it's the girls, sometimes ONLY Daddy can do anything without full on meltdown and then a few days later no-one other than Mummy exists in the world. We went through a stage where if anyone other than DD1 tried to put DS's shoes on you'd have through we were committing some sort of ritual sacrifice. They just do that sometimes.0

Yes, my son went through a phase like this. His first word was "dada" and I have a video of him sitting in his high chair, eating his dinner, suddenly, you can hear the key in the front door and he practically falls out of the chair when trying to turn around to see his dad coming home from work.
He also had a very embarassing habit of pointing to random men in the supermarket and calling them "Dad". Most blokes were fine with it but I did get a few horrified looks from their wives/girlfriends haha!

Reading this thread reminded me of an old TV series called "Dinosaurs" (IIRC)
The baby seemed to hate the Dad and whenever Dad appeared Baby cried "Not the Momma! Not the Momma!"
Anyone remember this?0 -

My nephew went through this with me, for months, every time he saw me, he'd burst into tears, he wouldnt settle if I was in the room. Eventually he grew out of it and now we get on like a house on fire. My other nephew is just starting the same thing with my brother when previously they got on great.0
