Wifi file transfer pro

Hello,
I use wifi file transfer pro to move files from PC to tablet and phone and it's a very useful tool that saves time with USB sticks etc. I have a new PC (well laptop - Lenovo 500) and the program now won't work for me(was fine on old PC). The error message is displayed below.
I have tried adding a port (i.e. checking a box in McAfee LiveSafe security) that says file transfer protocol - didn't help. Tried ticking the home network one too. No change.
I have asked the makers for help (smarterdroid - they don't know). I assume it's some setting that I need to change but can't figure out which one! Nothing has changed on phone/tablet. It is the same problem in different browsers on the laptop.
Any help greatly appreciated....
the error message -
The connection has timed out
The server at 192.xxx.x.xx is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
