Shaver plug wont take shaver or toothbrush!

I've just moved into a house that has a dual "shaver socket" in the bathroom. Great, I thought. However, although my shaver and toothbrush (both Braun) plugs both seem to fit into the sockets, they will not push in. I don't want to use excessive force encase it breaks.

Some photos:

Am I missing something obvious here? Any advice much appreciated.
I hear the cry of the silence around me.

It should just push in. Either the flap that covers the holes is stuck or broken or the metal contacts inside have got bent. If it won't go in with wiggling you will have to take the plate off (after turning the power off). You might see the issue and be able to fix it or you might need a new plate.

    Thanks I'll try that.
