What can I sow / plant now?

Having been laid up with my leg in plaster and before that away from home, I was wondering if there is still time to sow anything either straight into beds or buy plants to grow for veggies in the autumn.

Never had this problem before as I usually am able to get things in during spring planting.

In your area french beans should be OK for the next month providing late crops. Try a late crop of broad beans and peas.

Lettuce and other saladings. A lot of endives, chicories, Chinese veggeies need to be planted after the solstice any way. beetroot, turnip, swede, some cabbage and broccoli, caulis, swiss chard and spinach.

Buy in curcubits and buy remaining tomato and chilli mplants and accept a small late harvest?

Thanks - definitely like the idea of beans and peas - will try tomatoes too, and some salad.

Annoyed that I haven't been able to grow any potatoes this year - love getting them straight out of the ground.

Would I be able to sow / grow courgettes do you think? Love these even when small and they always grow wonderfully in my garden, but have always planted them by May which I couldn't do this year :(

Well all curcubits say May or outside in early June, so I would give them a go if you like them small.
