Is there a relationship between Halifax and Barclaycard?

It's 0% shuffle time and I've been accepted for the Halifax 24 month 0% deal with the 1.5% transfer fee :j However, I got an email a couple of days ago telling me that the balance transfer had failed and I'd need to try again when I phoned up to activate the card.

I'm hoping it's just a case of fat fingers on my part when putting in the card number or something, but is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to transfer a balance from a Barclaycard (which was originally an Egg card) to Halifax? I Googled and found that HBOS seem to have a connection with Barclaycard in Ireland, but over here they appear to be two different companies.

Can anyone put my mind at rest that this is going to go through okay? I'd rather not be paying 16.9% on £4,630 if I can help it and I'd rather not have to apply for another card again straight away.

Yes its fine. Barclaycard and Halifax don't have anything to do with each other here. A balance transfer will be fine.

I've just had the same problem with mine.

But i also had the same problem when transfering from barclaycard to santander as well. They said the card number wasn't being recognised and had to do it manually over the phone using the sort code and account number.

im assuming it'll be the same with halifax, im just waiting for my card to arrive before trying again
