I hope you didn't make the token payment.
And be aware that any role that requires FCA Approved Person status will be problematic. (But I expect you know that already).

Lensman - can i just make a point to you - as someone suffering this current part of the FCA handbook, that the personal torment I am going through and the way I am dealing with my current debt, I believe, will make me a far better approved person than some of my workmates who have been bailed out by parents, never understand what a budget is and have never know what is like to be faced with this issues. Yes they have to check these things out but I like to think it will make a huge positive difference to my life. Luckily, my directors trust me enough to be able to take this challenge of getting me approved seriously.

This is incredibly bad advice.
Not only would you set yourself up to get sacked when it was discovered what you had done but people can and are prosecuted for fraud by making deliberately false statements in job applications.
Only today in our local rag was a report of a guy who got a suspended sentence of 18 months and 200 hours community service for saying he was a qualified teacher when he had failed to take the final assessment.
Its hardly fraud is it, and the case you use as an example is nothing like the OP`s situation, so you cant compare the two, it was more a notice of intention to deal with the DCA, I advised he does deal with the matter, the OP seemed in a hurry, as it is, the job offer was retracted anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. have working in financial services for 95% of my life, and they have said my credit check is fine, my integrity is 100% just this little thing, worked directly for a IFA firm as well as Natwest & HBOS never heard of this.
It is a requirement nowadays. There is an annual declaration of financial standing and they ask for evidence and do a credit check to support your declaration. Those with insufficient surplus assets, CCJs, defaults etc will find it harder. Those already in a job who will not be holding control functions should be ok. However, if there are control functions involved then it can mean you dont get the job or you lose the job if you are already in it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
