  • But I do know that they didn't 'lose' their job, they actually quit. The circumstances surrounding it don't mean that it didn't happen. All of this was covered in the thread last week where they drip fed bits of their story, originally claiming to have lost their job, then revealing that they had quit and would be able to get a better one within days.

If I had been forced out of my job and had no choice but to resign, then I would also see it as losing my job.

How the OP lost her job is irrelevant to the questions she is asking on this thread.

I'm sure she is beating herself up enough about the situation she is in without people like you adding to her misery.

Anyway, OP, it is very risky to do what your friend did and not tell the mortgage company that you have lost your job.

You might well get away with it like your friend, but the worst case scenario is that your lender finds out that you have lost your job and pulls the mortgage after exchange but before completion. You would then need to pay compensation to your seller for their losses and to anyone else in the chain I believe.

Not this again. She comes across in the first post as some hard done by person who lost her job whilst buying a house when in fact she quit her job and is now scouring the internet for sympathy. Losing your job generally means that it was through no fault of your own. You just walked away from your job.

People walk away from their job for all sorts of reasons. You shouldn't judge. Some people commit suicide or become very ill because of their jobs. Would you rather this happened? For all you know the OP could have been in a situation that was putting her physical or mental health at risk.

I just had to say this having seen what toll some work can take on people's health. I've seen too many people destroyed by their jobs, and people with your attitude don't help the situation. Anyone who puts work before their health is not very clever. I think you are massively out of line here.

To the OP I think your best bet is to follow the advice given earlier. All you can do is try repair the damage one aspect at a time. Contact the relevant people, and explain the situation. I think honesty is the best policy. You never know, something good might come out of all this.

Better take it all on the chin. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and you never know, there might be better things waiting for you around the corner. Life is funny like that. Good luck.
