Hi all
Am nearing completion of renovation of old farmhouse in elevated position, rural Yorkshire. It already has 100mm of old loft insulation, but I'm looking to increase this to the recommended 270mm. The external walls have been insulated with silver multi-foil insulation, and we've installed a bio-mass boiler.
Ideally I'd prefer sheeps' wool or other "green" insulation rather than the old mineral fibre type, but also want something that has some degree of fire-resistance.
Anyone got any advice please? Cheers if you can help.

How about WARMCEL http://www.warmcel.co.uk/warmcel/range/warmcel-500/
Why do you want a "green" product when you have used MF on the walls?0 -

I am TRYING to be as 'green' as I possibly can, but if you've just come here for an argument you can forget it.
Hoping for answers from *helpful* people only please, keyboard warriors not wanted, thanks.0 -
You could use a sprayfoam from BASF as that is class 1 fire retardant. They have a BBA certificate to prove it conforms to building regs etc. I'm sure they would have a supplier list for you.0

Cheers Rooflover. I'd prefer something which coulld be DIY laid/rolled out rather than sprayed however, as I have allergies to chemicals. There was also 100mm of mineral roll already in places when I bought the house (albeit old & not in good condition), so it's a question of increasing what's there and covering the rest.0 -
