OS Daily thread Friday 20th June

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Chin up, Titus out.

Morning all
Up at silly o'clock here, I've not been sleeping well & y'day was hinging washing on the line at 4am, I made the mistake of having an early night last night & now I've been awake since 2! I keep waking up & getting sneezing fits.
Molly, I hope you are ok.
Hilly, take care
I posted on y'day thread & don't want to repeat myself, but will waffle on here anyway.
Work is busy, getting ready for the new year 7 in September & we have 3 people out of a team of 8 either off sick or in hospital. Hubby's team is two men down, one left at Easter & hasn't been replaced & one is out sick, y'day we were both at work from 6:30 until 4:30, at least I got a lunch break.
It was our wedding anniversary on Wednesday & I was very spoiled, hubby bought me flowers, jewelry & we went out for a meal. I didn't buy him anything, but have plied him with lots of Hestering!
It's been a busy week, both DD's visited on Tuesday, DD1 bought the twins with her, so we had lots of cuddles, I posted a pic on facebook of hubby with both babes in his arms, other DD's babe is , so far, a footling breech so we are hoping he/she turns before too long, I can't wait to meet DGC number 9.
The payout hubby was due that we were hoping would pay for a 'new to us' car has now been delayed a year. I'm now hoping the one due to me will be enough to buy one. My car just scraped through it's MOT, yay, But with a long list of advisories. It really needs changing soon as it will not keep going for long with out big money spent on it. As it's done 180k miles & is a P reg it's done well.
DD one has put an offer in on a 4 bed house in the road she lives in, she & hubby have done a lot to their house since she bought it but SS insist they get a bigger house now the twins are here.
I'm going to do some ironing & hope that makes me tired enough to go back to sleep.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Too much happening just want to curl up somewhere and sleep my life away - SS insisting my dad come home even though my mum can't cope - it's dreadful:(

No OS so have not been posting and you don't want to read my whinging xx
Hilly - hope you ok x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I am staggering to the end of another week and DH is set for another weekend of marking. DD wants to have a barbecue so will see if we can work around it somehow. The house is a bombsite and the naughty little pets feel neglected and are throwing tantrums.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day

Good Morning chums and <<hugs>> for those not feeling great this morning.
This morning after the school run I have to take DGS Ben down to the temporary agency in Gillingham to register for temp work.He finished his last A level exams yesterday so now has left school behind for ever .Depending on results, he will be off to Uni in September but he wants to try and earn some cash before then.We went into the agency a couple of days ago and the very nice lady told us to return today. She is please as he is 18, which they prefer, and said she should hopefully get him some temp work.
as Ben says anything legal considered :):):)

This afternoon I have History club and we are discussing Macarthy and his impact on American society, so should be interesting.

I am hoping to sneak a quick shop in beforehand to stock up on fresh fruit and veg and a few odds and ends needed.I hate the shops at the weekend and this weekend is forecast to be a nice one so maybe we will be heading towards the beach.

My new car is having its PDI inspections and I am hoping to pick it up one day next week.I ordered it at the beginning of March !!!.

The gardener made a nice job of the flower beds I had popped into B&Q the other day and they had a stack of trays of geraniums reduced from £5.00 to £2.00 so I bought 6 trays (it was Wednesday so I got my 10% off )best of all just after the gardener had finished mowing and planting and had gone it chucked it down with rain so they have had a free watering :):):)

DD Shelley is feeling a lot better and I picked her up and brought her to my house yesterday for some TLC and general Mummy fussing :):):)

We had a slow walk over to the shops and she spotted some lovely single duvet covers and pillowcases in the CS (Christy's ones ) so she grabbed two sets of singles for her caravan, and I got the double set for indoors Mine was only £4.00, and her two sets came to £7.00.Bargains for both of us :):):)

Watched to last half of the football last night, looks as though the England team will be on their way home soon.

Well time to get a wriggle on, have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, very overcast but dry.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. I woke up whilst he was getting up and now can’t get back to sleep – although did sleep very well and soundly until then.

Dinner last night was from the chippy – we got out of the cinema at 7.20pm and went straight to the chip shop and got served quite quickly and we were home and food on the plates by 7.45pm – I have to confess I did have pie and chips instead of the salad I’d left in the fridge – it did really help as it was a late dinner. Tonight will be sausages, mash, veg and gravy – I won’t be serving chips any time soon in this house as meals have been very naughty this week. I did sit yesterday and start a menu plan as I’d like to try for a cheaper week on the groceries. The freezer and storecupboard are well stocked – it’s mainly fresh stuff that we need – and some non food items, will try to keep the cost to a minimum.

I was reasonably productive yesterday, did the housework, washing, drying and ironing. I do have our bedding and a small dark clothes wash to go on the line that I did last night – at the moment the dirty wash basket is empty – but won’t be that way for long I’m sure! Today I will be heading to the bank, then food shopping, I have a nail appointment this afternoon. I will do the cooking/baking tomorrow morning as DH is working, so I can do that at my leisure. Boys bedding needs to be changed too today.

DS2 really enjoyed the film, it was a bit sci-fi for me, but it was his choice. Nice as he’d been given a gift voucher so other than a drink each it didn’t cost anything. It’s the first time I’ve been to the cinema in 3-4 years possibly longer. It’s a little independent cinema that’s got just 1 screen, but you sit on leather sofa’s or chairs and there’s premier sitting at the back and you can have waitress service to your seats from the bar etc, and it’s very much cheaper than the big mutli-screen cinemas. Prior to the independent cinema opening, we had a long time here with no cinema at all – this cinema has been open 5 or so years and is being well supported as the nearest cinema is in the next town over 10 miles away or 20 miles in the opposite direction to the next town. We now have a multiscreen cinema that has been opened as part of a new out of town shopping area – we haven’t been but I’ve been told tickets cost double what there to what they do at the independent one, let’s hope we can keep both going.

Have a good Friday everyone x

Keep safe and well x

Morning All (or evening for some who were up super early)

Lovely morning again, not got much washing to do, just the towels and pjs after I have had a shower, will put them on the line when I get in from work. Should finish about 1 today as I am being given time back from a trip earlier in the week.

The gas cooker was disconnected yesterday, hoping the chap comes to fit the new electric one soon although there is an oven in the micro and I have a halogen oven too so should survive!

Got a quote for a new heating system yesterday, hopefully it can all be fitted whilst I am away, DD can use the shower of friends across the road as they will be on holiday. It will only be for 3 days so not too bad.

Molly - you whinge away. Hope your spirits lift soon. I remember when my Mum was ill my Dad had a visit from someone at SS/Hospital who was insisting that Dad could cope. Physically he was fine but beginning to show the early signs of dementure. Luckily I was there at the time and asked the chap if he knew how old my Dad was (82) and he should go back to his office and think again. A care package was put in place very swiftly.

HH - Hope you can stay awake!

Hugs and well wishes to all. Take care. XX

Morning :hello:

You must think me very selfish and rude not mentioning other people on here who are poorly and going through hard times.
No no no – enough of that :naughty::D It's fab to read good news, I'm really pleased for your son :T

Molly I'm not sure how these things work, but could your mum's GP get involved?

I've got all my stuff ready to go away. Mr tru wants to go today, I think I've managed to persuade him to wait til monday, I really don't want to go on a weekend. It'll be too busy and I don't like feeling crowded.

I had a good dig over of the chicken shed, there's some lovely compost in there. I'll transfer it to the bins in the next couple of weeks then the girls can get started on the next lot :D It was tricky getting the balance right (chicken poo V. dry ingredients) but worth the work.

So, that's my peace and quiet gone for the next week :D And my routines will be shot, gggrrr. lol. We're going shopping this morning, might take a picnic and have a de-tour on the way home. My version of going out for lunch :D Might even buy doughnuts.

There's an interesting amount of B52s landing at Fairford, there's no way they're all there for the airshow

Morning all,

Looks a bit grey here but I hope it will brighten up later on, got a wash on the airer already, I would have hung it on the line but I am unable to lift my arms that high with this blooming neck, I managed to get an emergency appointment at the dr yesterday he has given me some strong painkillers and a muscle relaxant which makes you very sleepy, I am just waiting for them to kick in.

So day off sick for me again, I hate letting them down but I am really not much use to anyone, will potter round at home and do the odd bit, dinner tonight might be a take away curry :D

Fiftyeighter, so glad to hear your good news xx

Hilstep how are you ?

Julie, I used to suffer from sore boobalays until I had a coil fitted, which stopped it all and my periods ! xx

Have good days all xx
