Stop Cyberbullying Day

Today, it is Stop Cyberbullying Day. It is an annual day organised by The Cybersmile Foundation, where everybody can get involved and make a difference both on and off-line.

I think this is a worthy cause to bring to the attention of schools and those working with children or vulnerable adults to help protect those who may be at risk of cyberbullying. That way, hopefully, it can be stamped out.

Cyberbullying can have a huge impact on the lives of those affected and I hope that organised events and awareness will also provide people with the knowledge of what they should do if they are victims of this type of behaviour.

I have placed this in this section of MSE as I am sure there will be parents who have children who have experienced this awful thing and hopefully there will be some information on dealing with this issue.

For anyone dealing with this issue, and not just children, I do hope that it can be stamped out so that it does not continue to affect lives.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.

I know someone who tried to take their own life due to the relentless bullying by girls in her school. The parents had no idea until they found her and she was very lucky to be alive.

People don't realise just how badly their bullying can affect someone else so thanks for posting this and raising awareness.

I feel sorry for the kids that get this, i suppose there were bullies wnen i was young but at least we could try and advoid the bullies. With mobile phones and social media there's no escape now.

I was bullied at school and I can honesty say they were not the best years of my life because of that :(

I really do think it is much worse now, the way kids can be bullied through social media as well. As you say, there's no escape for them :(

For all the good technology can bring, it's horrible that it also brings the problem of cyber bullying too. I had a horrendous time in school but at least once I walked out of those school gates they couldn't get to me till the next day, and even that pushed me to the edge. If I'd been cyber bullied too I honestly don't think I would be here posting this now.

I'd like to see people prosecuted for cyber bullying, as it is now it's anonymous with no consequences and I'm not sure what can be done to battle it
