Twitter Confirmation Emails

I'm trying to setup a new Twitter account for a Festival I'm running and I can't confirm the account. Although Twitter says it has sent the confirmation email, it never arrives. I have checked and rechecked that email address is accurate and that the Twitter email isn't in the SPAM folder but however many times I ask for in to be re-sent it doesn't get there.

Twitter's own advice is to change the email address to a large provider such as Hotmail or Gmail which isn't a lot of help as the email address for the Festival was a Gmail account which is what I started out with and that didn't work. I also tried changing it to my husband's Gmail account, a Sky account and lastly a BT Yahoo email. In all cases the confirmation email never arrived. You are only allowed 4 email address changes an hour and then it locks the account up.

Searching on Google for possible solutions just throws up dozens and dozens of people all with the same problem with "helpful" responders who keep referring them back to the same tired old help pages which tell you how to check your spam folder and suggest changing to another email address.

How on EARTH does anybody ever confirm a Twitter account? Or is this just a dastardly plot to keep the great unwashed from using Twitter and reserve the Bandwidth for celebrities to tell the world what they had for breakfast this morning.....

I had the same issue a few weeks ago .......no matter what I did I couldn't get the email confirmation so I raised an issue with them through their help pages. About a week later the email confirmation came through so I thought they had 'fixed' it for me but it has only been this week that they have responded to my issue telling me that they have checked my account and it looks fine !!
