Cannot connect to router!

I have a netgear dg632 router which until this morning worked well.

The problem is that I can no longer connect to the control panel via 192.168.0.1

I have tried factory reset and hard resetting but I still cannot enter the control panel. I have ping the router via the cmd line so I now it responds.

If I right click the LAN connection and ask it to repair it runs through the process but alass this does not help me connect to the control panel.

Any ideas....

Are you sure it's not 192.168.1.1?

    Edit
    Sorry, you are right 192.168.0.1

Can you confirm that your internet connection is active, ie. by connecting directly via the modem?
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Assuming no firewall stopping access to router perhaps computer is somehow not getting the right info. from the router. Would suggest as a start to turn everything off, leave for a minute then power on the dg632 (that's a modem/router right?) and when it's ready power up pc. If still no good then need to check TCP/IP configuration on pc. Too late for detail tonight. What operating system do you have?

My router connects on 192.168.2.1 if thats any help.

If you want to check if you have any connection at all click Start - Run, type 'CMD' to bring up a system window and type 'ipconfig/all'

Do you need to run the software for your network card? I used to have to double click an icon associated with the network card to start mine up sometimes.

Also if u have manually configured your connection you have to make sure that DHCP is not enabled. If you haven't manually configured then make sure its enabled in the connection settings.

What does it display when you repair the connection? Does it show that networks are present or can you see the network but just not utilise it?

My D-link router sometimes does this. The only way I can fix it is by disabling the LAN connection and re-enabling it.

    http://192.168.0.1/

Not sure why it does it. Maybe the nforce drivers.
  • System is Win XP.

The internet connection is live as I used it to update various programs and the setting have not been altered - also the lights on the front appear to work

I have check the cmd > ipconfig etc...

I have pinged 192.168.1.1 - no response ( netgear help page ) and 192.168.0.1 this registers a response.

It has been powered off powered on and the re install of the network card software.

I have reconfigured the firewall including allowing everything.

To clarify the repair - it repairs as it did before the stoppage - clearing/refreshing and registering etc..

As the ISP uses a proxy I have tried via proxy and without.

As mentioned it was working fine and then suddenly stopped.....a real puzzler!

I am about to change the cat 5 cable and the micro filter and will let you know.

Cheers for the help already offered.

To clarify the repair situation - when I click repair it goes through the normal proccesses i.e repair/refresh/register etc.
