    Thanks so much everyone.

OK what we have done is decided against it. My husband heard too many bad things about shop floor display macbooks, so he is shelving the idea at the mo, because we can't afford a grand for a laptop.

    Thanks all. :)
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

    You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more! :D
  • As above you can get a refurbished model directly from Apple at a good discount. That's where I bought my current macbook and apart from the fact it didn't come in a retail box you'd never know it wasn't new.

    Worth a look anyway IMO.

I wouldn't buy any "ex-display" electrical item unless it was very heavily discounted.
Quite a few of the posts on this thread are just pro or anti Apple.

Why do you need to spend £1000?
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

I bought my i7 MacBook Pro via eBay. Turned out to be a real bargain. However, eBay is always a risk and I've been "bitten" once (in 10 Mac purchases).

That's what you need if you want (not need) a Mac.

What would you class as a 'bargain' for a Mac?

    £775 is a lot,
I recently purchased a brand new MBP Retina Display 13' for £740, from abroad (e/x rates worked wonders) :j
You can certainly win one on eBay for approx 800 pounds so this ex display model is not a good buy as the battery would be fairly used and cosmetic condition may not be 'mint'.
