Hi,
I recently went through my direct debits and noticed one for £6 which I didn't know what is was for. I knew it was something to do with British Gas as we already have boiler cover with them and the DD title was nearly the same.
I phoned them and asked them what it was for and they had no record of it,so I cancelled the DD.
I have now received a letter from Home Assistance UK advising me that I have no DD in place for :- British Gas Glazing,Locks,Roof and Pest Cover.
I have been through all my paperwork and have nothing mentioning any of this, and I certainly do not remember taking out this cover.
The letter says that I have to instruct my bank for a new DD or the contract will be cancelled and the outstanding balance (if appropriate) will become payable in full.
I just wonder if there would be an outstanding balance as I don't think there is any credit involved. I'm more than happy to cancel it but I don't want to be presented with a final bill.
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Ask them to confirm the details of the contract you have entered.
Assuming there is a contract in place then follow the cancellation procedure.
Cancelling a dd doesn't cancel a contract.0
