Is there anything i can do to speed up the repair of my credit file?

I have one default for £1200 dated April 2013 - this was settled for an agreed sum.

One default for £6000 for a loan dated September 2013 - am paying this off at an agreed monthly amount.

I have a credit card with a balance of £1300 - this hasnt been issued with a default even though i am paying it back at a reduces rate, the card issuer says it is on an informal arrangement. It shows up red every month on my credit files.

All my credit reports are up to date with correct info.

Mortgage and house hold monthly direct debits are all up to date.

I have been refused a credit building card - i read about them on mse and applied. Am now bombarded with dodgy texts offering me money.

Any tips to speed up the healing process of my rating?

Unfortunately probably very little with such relatively recent defaults.

Aside from the mortgage and these accounts what other account appear on your credit file? If you have the mortgage showing as paid on time, and any other account showing as paid on time then a new credit card may well have not made much difference anyway.

That said you could possibly try again for a credit builder card once your defaults are say a couple of years old.

What is the main reason for wanting to improve it as quick as possible? is it to move house/remortgage at the current place or for something else?

  • I want to move - i thought two years time would be a realistic goal. Want to clear my debts and do as much as i can between and then to get my finances healthy again and get my credit files looking goid again. Could i get a new mortgage with defaults that are three years old? I hate where i live so waiting for them to drop off after six years is not an option.

Settle the debt you owe as quickly as you can.

It might be possible within the subprime mortgage market if you had a high % deposit. Do you have much equity in the current property?

Any chance of porting the existing mortgage to a new property?
