Alton Towers cheap tickets - advice please!

Hi,
Myself, hubby and 1 toddler (aged 2) will be visiting Alton Towers in July (on a weekday in term-time). We'd like to spend 1 day at the theme park and 1 day at the water park (maybe consecutive days). What's the cheapest way to do it?
It seems our toddler is free to both theme park and water park and we can get adult tickets for £12.50 each by exchanging Tesco Clubcard vouchers (Correct me if I'm wrong but this seems to be cheaper than advance online tickets or 2 for 1s, or 'parent & toddler deals...?) Can we buy these Tesco Clubcard vouchers tickets for 1 day then get a 'Towers2' ticket at the park to use at the waterpark the following day? Would this be valid (or does the second day ticket have to be at the theme park not the waterpark)?
If not, it seems you can get a 'parent & toddler' ticket to the waterpark for £7 - can you buy 2 of these for 2 parents if you only have 1 toddler between you? (I rang the resort and they didn't know! They suggested buying 2 'parent & toddler' tickets online in advance and, if questioned on entry, lying and saying that there was meant to be a second toddler who is poorly...!) It seems this ticket limits you to certain areas of the water park. Would we be missing out? If my husband wants to go on the slides does he have to buy a normal 'adult' ticket at £15...? (Or can he use the Tesco Clubcard £12.50 deal for a water park ticket instead?)
Sorry - lots of questions! Thank you for any advice!

Hi it is fine to get two parent and toddler deals. You have the same access as everyone else using the pool, so you can go on any of the slides. If you pre book you get the tickets from the hotel desk and then you just walk straight through the entrance at the pool without stopping at the other paying desk.0
