Laptop Charger not working

I have an Acer Aspire 5536g laptop, the AC charger stopped charging the laptop, so, I purchased a new battery.

That didn't seem to fix the problem, so I purchased a replacement AC charger from ebay.

The original AC charger fitted the jack nice and securely, the new AC charger was loose and didn't fit securely into the jack, so I returned the item, and received a replacement.

The 2nd AC charger still doesn't fit the jack securely compared to the original one.

At power up, all I'm getting is "Warning" battery critical low.

Could it be the laptop is dead?

Not sure what else to do.

I'm guessing the ebay charger is not doing the job....Cheap is cheap sometimes....
Not pocket shattering, but, probably a better bet, from here - http://www.laptop-power.co.uk/laptop-chargers/acer/aspire/series-5536/model-5536.html
Try it and return it if it doesn't do the job.

sounds like the power jack in the lappy that's gone, not the charger/battery. Repair required :)

Sounds more like the issue jack, the old one has brown marks around the pin that slots in to the jack, just tried the old one and it's still a firm / tight fit into the jack, if it's the jack, would that explain why the old one fits, and the 2 new one's don't?

Browntoa, do you think will will solve this issue:

All ebay listings for the item seem to be below £10.00

I've bought many lappy PSUs from ebay, you need to check the dimensions of the jackplug as well as the voltage & current rating to make sure you get one that will suit your laptop, irrespective of whether the lappy model is listed in the item description....

Replacing a power jack on a lappy requires a (normally high) level of stripdown, soldering/desoldering skills, and reassembly & test...if you're lucky you can find a service manual for your model, which would make it easier :)

I would advise against cheap power supplies for laptops, there are a lot of poor ones out there - an underspec one can get very hot, an underspec one with cheap plastic can melt/catch alight! Maplin do some pricey but suitable power bricks
