£0 Default on Experian but Shown as satisfied on Equifax

Hi All,
Hope someone will be able to advise. I have recently pulled off all my credit files and have finally received the pin for Experian today. Upon looking at the file it shows that in 2011 i defaulted on a balance of £250 but says satisfied on current balance but for some strange reason from 2011 it has 8's all the way up to the current month with £0 next to it.
My other gripe is that Equifax is showing this as only 5 late payments followed by a Q and satisfied for a balance of £0 but no default at all. I am in a state of panic that this could affect my chances of my mortgage i will be going for this month. I am positive i never defaulted on this.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

If you had defaulted then how experian shows it is correct (the string of 8s showing for 6years from the default)
What is the date the balance was satisfied according to equifax. As there is no default the account entry will stay on your file for 6years from the settlement date.
You say you are positive you never defaulted - did you make all payments as they fell due as far as you were aware or do you think/accept that you did miss some payments?
What was the debt for? and who is the creditor reporting to your credit file?
What paperwork do you still have for the debt - do you have something that proves you paid the debt in full and on time (statements etc)?
If you think you did not default then you would need to raise a dispute with the creditor. Some people also raise a dispute with the credit reference agencies (although they just refer them to the creditor). I would do this in writing (or if you do phone definitely follow up in writing).
With the default on your credit file then it could affect your chance of being accepted for a mortgage or affect the rate you may be offered.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for the advice, i will defiantly follow up with what you have proposed. It is unusual looking on the file it says this:
1-24 months - 888 888 888 888
25-36 months- 8?8 888 888 888 (which is the default)
37-48 months - 22D 0U5 420 ?00
From the experian website it says:
u - The lender has been unable to give the account a statement for this month. This may be at the start of the credit agreement when the lender is allowing time for the account to be set up; when the customer is waiting for goods to be delivered; when the customer has received the goods but payment is not due to start immediately; when there is a dispute over the payments due or the goods received; or when the account is not being used.
D- The account is not being used—nothing is owed.
It seems in one line that the account was cleared and paid and the for some reason its not cleared. I just found it very confusing
Equifax is showing this as satisfied on march 2011 and then reports nothing about a default.0 -
Apologies i should of replied to your middle part but been e-mailing and phoning all day to try and get somewhere on this default.
You say you are positive you never defaulted - did you make all payments as they fell due as far as you were aware or do you think/accept that you did miss some payments?
Im 100& sure i paid this off. Its claimed its £250 but i didn't even order this much either
What was the debt for? and who is the creditor reporting to your credit file?
It was for Avon who reported me for this i was when i was a representative for one week. I didn't even order as much as £250 worth of goods. Looking on the web it appears a lot of people have problems with Avon
What paperwork do you still have for the debt - do you have something that proves you paid the debt in full and on time (statements etc)?
It was so long ago I dont have any of the paperwork but im 100% sure they never even sent me paper work to say i owe them money
As mentioned im confused on why the report between 37-48 months shows- 22D 0U5 420 ?00 which really does seem odd.0 -
You need to call them tomorrow and ask them to clarify it and then ask them to correct it at once. They have to keep paper work for 6 years and so they should be able to pull off any statements you may have with them. Dig your heels in with them and make sure you sort it out within a week that way you know how it is and if you can go for your mortgage as the lenders will ask questions.
Good luck!0 -
Hi bertsquall - I understand that we do continue to update the status history on a default each month (ie 8s) unless the lender registers a satisfaction date. The important thing is that the balance is clearly marked as satisfied. We keep defaults for six years from the default date, so this is not affected by the satisfacton date at all and your credit rating is not affected by the string of 8s. However, if you'd like us to just check this for you, to make sure everything is accurately recorded, please drop us an email and mark it 'FAO Mark'.
Thanks

Thanks for the response. I have chased this with Avon today and one of there representatives confirmed that I never defaulted on an account and referred me to there credit teams who i have now e-mailed to see if this can be removed.
I did e-mail yesterday to consumer.helpservice@uk.experian.com but I have now forwarded this on to yourself as instructed.
Many Thanks0
