Confirm true intent

Having asked to be put on a waiting list for a puppy, I received an email from the breeder saying he was doing final waiting list today and to confirm true intent.

Does this mean I email back and say I am committed to taking a pup if successful?(we are)
Unsure what to reply.

Any advice welcome

I think that you've got it right. The breeder doesn't want to turn people away in favour of someone who, when the time comes to collect the pup, then says "oh, I was only asking... I'm not looking to get a dog right now..." I strongly suspect that this is some sort of written agreement that protects him (and the pup) from this scenario.

Probably like a "no time wasters please" indication, only more formal.

Good luck with your new pup (when it arrives)! x

I know some people sit on waiting lists until their situation suits too - a friend wants a Toller puppy, which aren't majorly common in the UK I don't think, so is on a list with the breeder she wants to buy from, but has to wait until circumstances are right (her current dog isn't great with other dogs, so she's waiting for him to improve, or to have the Toller as her next dog). Presumably a breeder will send emails off once in a while to see what stage these kinds of people on their lists are at.
