Mortgage Application & Credit Checks - Help Needed ASAP!

Hello,
This is probably going to sound really silly, but I am worried and just want to see if anyone can confirm some things for me!
I have a really bad credit history (alot of defaults), some have started to drop off and others are due to do the same as most of my debts are getting to 5 - 6 years old. I recently met with a mortgage broker and advised him of my full credit history and he was quite reluctant to continue with a mortgage application but did it anyway. Well good job he did cause I got accepted for a mortgage (in joint with my partner) huge relief that being stupid with money in my past wasn't going to effect us getting a house!
The mortgage adviser than stated to not apply for any more credit or be careful of any credit checks because any fails on my credit history from that point could mean I will get refused my mortgage because they do another credit check before it all completes.
Thats fine! Woooo I am on the first step to getting a mortgage!
Here's where my possible complication is. I have been asked by a possible new employer to undertake a credit check (as the company deals with money), I would only be doing a basic role but its common practice that everyone has to go through a credit check. I am now very warey that if I fail the credit check that not only I wouldn't get a full job offer but it could mean the next mortgage application will be declined!
Can anyone tell me if the credit check will effect my mortgage application or because I have been accepted for the first stage of the mortgage application does that mean my credit rating has improved (even by just a little) and I could potenially pass a credit check? I have asked the employer and they did say its not a problem if I have a negative credit history as long as I have a clear criminal history (which I do). But I am still warey as I dont want to rock the boat with my mortgage application!
Please help, any advise will be welcomed!
Thank you!

Shouldn't impact on your mortgage application at all.
Your employer's search won't show as a credit application search, it will show as something along the lines of an identity verification search or similar wording.
That said starting a new job could likely be of interest to a mortgage lender, and is something they would likely take in to consideration when assessing a mortgage application.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
