I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (GT-I8160) mobile.

When I now try to run the Gallery app to view my photos, app does not run and I get error message:

"Not enough memory. Delete some items"

Any idea what files/folders I need to delete to free-up space to run the Gallery app.

Thanks

  • Do you have the photos backed up to Google?

If yes delete them from the phone , normally kept in Dcim folder.

Photos are saved on 8GB micro SD memory card in slot.

Think problem is with phone storage, where operating system runs.

If I look at Settings, Storage, it shows:

    SD card
Total space 7.41GB, Available space 810MB

    USB storage
Total space 1.10GB, Available space 0.00B

    System storage
    Available space 1.03GB

I think USB Storage is on the phone, but not sure what System Storage is, I assume that's on phone as well, but it's odd it shows 1.03GB available space and Gallery app won't run.

Try clearing Data from the Gallery application..Settings - Application manager - All - Gallery - Clear data
Make sure you back up your photo's. I have had two memory cards fail with the loss of everything on them.

All it shows there for Gallery app is 104KB, it shows:

    Storage
    Installed on device(Default)
    Total ..................... 104KB
    Application ............. 0.00KB
    Data ...................... 104KB

    Cache
    Cache .................... 0.00B

I cleared couple of other Apps with MB of data, apps I don't know nothing about or use.

    Gallery still not working.

Looks like this is all part of System Storage, as it shows below the list of Apps at bottom of screen:

    System storage
    150MB used ............................... 1.1GB free

The clear data option should be between the data storage and your cache, next to the move to sd card option. Not sure why you don't have the option.
Back up all your pics and then delete them all from your phone. Until you free up space on the gallery app itself, I'm guessing, you will have trouble.
Next step is a factory reset...

I do have that option, but 104KB for Gallery app insignificant.

I tried Clear Data, Gallery app still does not work.

The pictures are on external microsSD card with 700+MB free, don't think that's got anything to with running Gallery app.
